Ing. Jan Růžička, Ph.D.
I am part of the team of research program Architecture and Interaction of Buildings with the Environment focusing on mechanical physical properties of natural based materials in modern buildings as clay, earthen structures, straw, timber structures etc., sustainable renovation and retrofitting, environmental assessment and integrated design. I give lectures on Building Structures, Timber structures for Low Energy and Passive Buildings and Alternative and Natural Based Structures, Materials and Technologies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, Dept. pf Building Structures and I am leading the project studios at bachelor and master degrees. Within UCEEB I also coordinate with colleagues of mine cooperation between the triple helix university – research – businesses. I gained experience in several national and international research projects such as SUREURO, MPO Effect: Selected Properties of Natural Based Materials, Structural Elements and Buildings for Ministry of Industry of the CR, project partner coordinator of project EURL3A - European Real Life Learning Lab Alliance. I am involved in several professional associations, I am founding member and secretary of Czech Sustainable Building Society (iiSBE – Czech), member of SHS - Earthen Architecture Association, CDP Centre for Passive Buildings. I am also member of the organizational committee of CESB16 conference Central Europe towards Sustainable Building which will be held 22nd – 24th June 2016 in Prague. As a graduated architect I run architectural studio KUBUS Ltd which focuses on design of low energy and passive buildings and ecological architecture. We try to bring the principals of sustainability into real professional life and trey to keep sustainable approach in architecture real.
