Usaid received his doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi
Malaysia, Malaysia. Meanwhile, he had been a researcher at the Centre for Advanced Composite Materials, Universiti Teknologi
Malaysia. In that role, he completed multiple industrial and consultancy projects that focused on the application of fiber
reinforced composites in aerospace, marine and civil construction sectors.
He joined CTU UCEEB in 2025, as part of MERIT postdoctoral fellowship, to develop damage resistant and durable carbon fiber
reinforced nanocomposites for structural strengthening. His transdisciplinary interests seek to combine principles of nanotechnology,
materials and mechanical engineering to develop advanced composites for mechanical performance and multifunctionality.
