Analysis of centralized heat supply systems

Service offer

We offer analyses for the optimization of centralized heat supply systems (CHS) using advanced simulation tools.

Our services include:
  • Modelling of monthly heat demand: We model the monthly heat demand for heating and hot water preparation in larger sets of buildings based on limited data (map data, age of buildings) taking into account the implemented energy saving measures (construction, technical systems). The result is an assessment of the future heat demand in different savings scenarios, for example for areas connected to district heating.
  • Heat loss analysis of the heat distribution system: We analyse heat losses in CHS systems on the basis of a passport of pipeline sections in various types of installation, taking into account climatic and operating conditions. The result is an evaluation of the change in heat losses under different variants of pipeline reconstruction (change of installation type, replacement of insulation, reduction of operating parameters of the heat carrier).
  • Design and analysis of RES operation in CHS systems: We design and analyze renewable heat sources with storage (water, groundwater) using advanced simulation methods. The result is an assessment of energy savings when integrating RES into CHS depending on the operational parameters of the distribution system and the heat demand.
  • Modelling of complex heat sources: We analyze the design options of systems combining conventional and renewable energy sources (heat pumps, photovoltaics, cogeneration units) with storage capacities for CHS systems by detailed simulation calculations. The output is the required capacities to achieve the defined targets (RES coverage, CO₂ emission reduction).
