CTU UCEEB Launches Beta Version of the District Heating Electrification Portal

News, 3. 2. 2026

A new public portal focused on the electrification of district heating has been developed as the result of interdisciplinary research involving energy specialists, experts in numerical modelling and simulations, as well as sociologists and economists. Its aim is to support informed strategic decision-making and accelerate the transformation of the Czech district heating sector.

In its first phase, the portal offers a KPI calculator for Power-to-Heat integration scenarios. The tool enables an initial screening of electrification options for district heating systems and helps identify suitable and unsuitable configurations already in the early planning stages. The calculations are based on typological models of Czech district heating networks and an extensive database of hourly energy simulations.

The project is being carried out in cooperation between CTU UCEEB, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at CTU in Prague, and Feramat Energies, under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and with financial support from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic. The portal is currently available in a beta version, with further development and expansion planned. We welcome feedback from the professional community.
