Ondrej Vlčko is a graduate of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, where he studied Building Technology and
Management. In his master’s thesis, he carried out comprehensive research on straw-based building materials for residential
construction. The thesis was awarded the Dean’s Prize and the Prize of the Chairman of the Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers
in 2025.
During his studies, he completed a short-term study program in France titled Sustainable Civil Engineering, where he worked
on the sustainable transformation of a brownfield and the design of new buildings using natural materials. He further developed
the knowledge gained as a BIM designer in an architecture, engineering and consulting company, where he focused on modeling
mainly office buildings.
He has a strong interest in the use of natural building materials and is increasingly drawn to the topic of designing sustainable
and self-sufficient buildings. At UCEEB, he is a member of the Sustainable Building team, where he is currently involved in
the development of the national sustainability assessment methodology SBToolCZ and in the creation of an environmental database
for the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic.
