On July 4 to 6, 2022, the international scientific conference Central Europe towards Sustainable Building 2022 took place in Prague, organized by the University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings, the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Klokner Institute of CTU in cooperation with the Czech Society for Sustainable Construction buildings.

Central Europe towards Sustainable Building 2022 (CESB22) is part of a series of conferences organized under the patronage of the international organizations iiSBE, CIB, UNEP-SBCI and FIDIC. It was held in our capital for the sixth time and this year it was attended by 150 scientists from 28 countries around the world, who, in addition to the main program, could also take guided tours of selected buildings, including the Bustěhrad headquarters of the Czech Technical University UCEEB, and visit several exhibitions focused on the field of sustainable construction.

The topics of the papers and discussions were innovative technologies and systems, new materials and components for sustainable buildings, energy-efficient buildings and neighborhoods, adapting the design, construction and operation of buildings to climate goals, integrating circular economy principles into the building design process and decision support tools and methods assessment for a sustainable built environment. Participants also discussed retrofitting existing building stock, sustainable restoration of cultural and industrial heritage, improving the resilience of the built environment and sustainable urban development.

Since 2007, a total of 1,088 experts focused on the issue of sustainable building construction have participated in CESB's Prague conferences. The importance of this international event is also evidenced by the fact that the contributions of the previous five years are indexed in the SCOPUS and Web of Science databases.
