Laser cleans air and surfaces in laboratories

UCEEB CTU has ventured into a whole new area of laser technology, developing innovative solutions for decontaminating surfaces and air in clean room environments in collaboration with Narran. During three years of industrial research and experimental development, prototypes of two devices are expected to be built, which should bring significantly better conditions for conducting experiments in laboratories and eliminate the amount of contaminants still commonly released into the air.

The aim of the ROD-Decont project is to develop and produce two prototypes, a manual device based on intense coherent radiation for decontaminating surfaces in clean rooms and a complex laser decontamination device for cleaning the air in clean rooms. Narran, a company that develops, manufactures and delivers comprehensive laser solutions, partnered with us because we have specialists for specific research tasks in the control and regulation of air handling equipment and our laboratories are fully equipped with advanced technologies to verify the functionality and test laser and similar coherent radiation devices.

Our task will be to comprehensively test the application of the coherent radiation method to prototypes and to optimize them as needed from a functional, scientific and user perspective. The resulting solution should contribute to the improvement of laboratory operations and also have a significant environmental impact in terms of reducing the burden of airborne contaminants.
