The first excursion for contributors to Water in the city took place

Contributors who, when purchasing the Water in the City methodology, also purchased a field trip on the Hithit platform, already got acquainted with specific examples of rainwater management in Žďár nad Sázavou in the presence of experts.

Žďár has long been one of the cities that captures rainwater, absorbs it and uses it to make it work and look better. We know from practice that the best inspiration is to see things work live and learn from the successes and imperfections that are part of pilot projects.

As part of the excursion, in cooperation with colleagues from the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (ÚJEP), we showed interested parties the new park, tree plantings in the central part of the city and various types of green roofs. The discussion about water also took place in the project of using rain water for flushing in the kindergarten building. We also observed water in barrels, where it is led so that it can be used for watering the city greenery.

The Water in the City methodology was created as part of a two-year collaboration between the CTU UCEEB teams led by Martina Sýkorová and the UJEP led by Jan Macháč. The publication guides city representatives through the preparation, planning, implementation and maintenance of measures for rainwater management (HDV) in connection with blue and green infrastructure.
