The University Centre of Energy Efficient Buildings of CTU has a new management

From July 1, 2021, the University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings of CTU will be led by Ing. Robert Jara, Ph.D. The director for science and research will be Ing. Antonín Lupíšek, Ph.D. Retiring director doc. Ing. Lukáš Ferkl, Ph.D., plans further cooperation with his current employer, UCEEB, during the launch of a new company.

Ing. In 2018, Robert Jára, Ph.D., completed his doctoral studies at the Department of Steel and Wood Structures of the Faculty of Civil Engineering (FSv) of the Czech Technical University in Prague, where he still works as an assistant professor focusing on wooden structures. Since 2016, he has held the position of Deputy Head of the Materials and Building Construction Research Department at UCEEB. He is professionally engaged in research in the field of designing wooden buildings and experimental analysis of building structural elements.

"The priority of the new UCEEB leadership is the expansion of interdisciplinary cooperation in the area of clean technology development both at CTU and at the national and international level. Buildings, architecture, energy and the quality of the indoor environment remain the main areas of expertise. In the first year, the new management will focus on streamlining the implementation of top research results into practice, developing the innovation potential of research teams and systematically supporting the professional and career growth of colleagues," says Ing. Robert Jara, Ph.D.

The newly established position of director for science and research will be held by Ing. Antonín Lupíšek, Ph.D., who graduated in Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague, where he received his doctorate in 2013. Between 2001 and 2005, he worked in industry as an expert consultant and researcher in the field of building physics, building energy and renewable sources. Since 2006, he has held various research and managerial positions at CTU. In 2013, he became an assistant professor at the Department of Building Structures at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University. Since 2016, he has held the position of head of the Architecture and Environment research department at UCEEB. It deals with interdisciplinary research in the field of sustainable development with a focus on energy and construction and participates in national and international research projects.

Retiring director doc. Ing. Lukáš Ferkl, Ph.D., will continue to work at UCEEB until the end of this year. His main task will be to assist in the launch of a new spin-off company with an equity participation of CTU, which will mainly deal with the evaluation of companies and products from the point of view of their impact on the environment.
