Researchers from the INTENS team at CTU UCEEB and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering attended the 5th International Workshop
on Carnot Batteries (IWCB5) in Stuttgart on September 22–23. Organized by the German Aerospace Center (DLR), this event
is one of the key international gatherings focused on high-temperature energy storage.
At the workshop, we presented research findings from various projects covering high-temperature packed-bed storage systems,
predictive control, the testing of storage materials, and the integration of Carnot batteries into district heating operations.
In addition to the presentations, the workshop provided an opportunity to discuss the field with leading global research
teams and companies, as well as to arrange future collaborations. The trip also included participation in a working meeting
of the IEA Energy Storage TCP, where, as delegates for the Czech Republic, we contributed to defining a new IEA task focused
on R&D in high-temperature energy storage.
