We are heading to the trade fair of smart solutions for cities and municipalities

News, 22. 3. 2024
At the beginning of June 2024, the international URBIS The Smart Cities Meetup trade fair and conference will take place in Brno. An important part of the programme will be panel discussions, lectures, presentations of domestic and international projects and sharing of good practice. UCEEB CTU is organising several events as part of the accompanying programme, presenting projects on climate neutrality in cities and the New European Bauhaus.

This year's URBIS will bring a more modern approach with an exclusive conference programme that will be at least as important as the exhibition. The main themes will be energy and climate, efficient public administration and future mobility. As part of our participation, we are preparing several events aimed particularly at representatives of cities, research and technology organisations, the energy industry, spatial planners and managers.

During the thematic seminar, we will present applied research on innovation in urban environments carried out since 2013 by the EERA JPSC, a cluster of leading European universities and institutes of technology. In the workshop entitled Unlocking Urban Potential, we will introduce participants to tools for preparing urban development in line with the principles of the New European Bauhaus, which emerged from the CrAFt and NEB STAR projects.

We will also present the results of the international SPARCS project so far, which contribute to the creation of positive energy districts and the increase of the share of renewable energy in electricity generation. For the first time in the Czech Republic there will also be an exhibition of technologies tested by partners from Leipzig and Espoo. Last but not least, we are planning the premiere screening of an educational e-learning course on positive energy districts, the production of which we have been responsible for. The topic of climate neutrality will also be covered in a meeting of the Scalable Cities project working group, which helps map energy communities across Europe.
