The Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) is the world's leading urban innovation event traditionally held in Barcelona. This year, thirty Czech exhibitors, ranging from start-ups and companies to the municipalities of Prague, Brno and Plzeň to universities, went there. Of course, among them were also representatives of the CTU UCEEB.

This year 25 thousand participants from more than 130 countries came to SCEWC, not only experts or exhibitors, but also politicians and business representatives from start-ups to giant multinational corporations. The Czech national stand was one of the largest and most visited, and won the Sustainable Design Award. The exhibition featured, for example, autonomous drones, check-in systems for public transport, automatic turnstiles for large-capacity bicycle parking, sensors for air monitoring, software for analysing images from cameras, event detectors from sound, platforms for optimising energy consumption, AI chatbots for communication between municipalities and citizens, an alternative to plastic packaging made from mushroom mycelium, furniture made from waste materials, futuristic concepts for transport vehicles and other solutions.

We brought the "Energy Community" simulation game to Barcelona, where visitors tried out what it is like to share electricity if you are a producer, own a battery or run an industrial business. In addition, the Barcelona fair was an opportunity to consolidate existing partnerships and to present the results of the NEB-STAR (Prague Pixels exhibition) and ASCEND projects, or the work of our specialists in circular construction. Thanks to us, over ten representatives of Ukrainian cities also visited Barcelona.
