Strategic Intelligence Analyst – Energy Sector

We are the Cybersecurity for Energy Research team at the University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings of the CTU, based in Buštěhrad near Kladno. We connect science with industry to deliver innovative, market-ready solutions. Our work focuses on applied research and development in grant projects and commercial contracts, with a mission to make modern energy systems more secure, resilient, and future-proof.

We are seeking a skilled Strategic Intelligence Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will monitor, analyze, and forecast developments that impact the security, resilience, and competitiveness of energy infrastructure — from geopolitical shifts and supply chain vulnerabilities to cybersecurity and emerging threats. You will work at the intersection of strategic analysis, data-driven modelling, and risk prediction. You will contribute to the scientific knowledge base in the field, producing high-quality publications, presenting at international conferences, and supporting research grant proposals.

Job description:

  • Horizon scanning & monitoring of geopolitical events, regulatory changes, market 
dynamics, and technological trends impacting the energy sector,
  • Threat intelligence gathering across open-source and commercial sources, 
covering geopolitical, supply chain, and cyber domains,
  • Risk assessment & forecasting through both qualitative and quantitative 
methods, including scenario modelling and simulation,
  • Cross-domain analysis to identify interdependencies between geopolitical risks, 
cyber threats, and supply chain resilience,
  • Preparation of briefs, reports, and strategic recommendations,
  • Participation in tabletop exercises and resilience simulations to test strategies 
and validate security measures,
  • Scientific dissemination: publish peer-reviewed articles, present findings at 
international conferences, and contribute to state-of-the-art research in energy 
security,
  • Project participation: collaborate on research proposals and contribute to funded 
research projects at national and EU levels.

Awaiting:
 
  • Education: Master’s degree or PhD in Security Studies, Energy, Cybersecurity,
International Relations, Political Science or related field,
  • Layered thinking to view challenges from multiple perspectives and understand 
their interconnected nature, coupled with out-of-the-box problem solving to 
generate innovative approaches to complex issues, ability to read between the 
lines, identify underlying trends, connect seemingly unrelated information and 
independently propose solutions,
  • Strong ethical principles with a commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and 
responsible handling of information, as well as intellectual curiosity to explore 
new domains, challenge assumptions, and a collaborative mindset to work 
effectively with diverse stakeholders,
  • Strong understanding of geopolitical dynamics, supply chain risk management, 
and cybersecurity challenges,
  • Demonstrated ability to produce scientific outputs (e.g., publications, conference 
presentations, research reports),
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting complex findings to technical and 
non-technical audiences,
  • Fluency in English (additional languages an asset).
