Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomáš Petříček visited the University Center for Energy Efficient Buildings of CTU, from where scientists will send the SAWER system for extracting water from the air to Dubai, which will become the core of the Czech national pavilion at the EXPO 2020 world exhibition.
During the visit, the head of Czech diplomacy learned about the activities of the University Center for Energy Efficient Buildings of CTU. He praised the technical maturity of the SAWER system and the merits of its creators in spreading the good name of domestic science and the entire Czech Republic abroad: "EXPO 2020 is an extraordinary opportunity for us to once again prove that Czech science can be of benefit to the whole world, even in the 21st century. century, which is marked by innovation. I am excited that the heart of our pavilion will be something as unique and useful as technology that can help fight drought and water scarcity. This is a topic that already affects us in Central Europe, not just the "desert states" in Africa and Asia."
CTU rector Vojtěch Petráček also expressed his appreciation for the team of creators: "I am very happy that the researchers of our university successfully represent Czech science abroad and contribute to the shift of the domestic industry towards the knowledge economy."
The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates HE Abdulla Mohamed Almaainah also came to visit and support the project.
The potential of the SAWER system was also confirmed by the words of the head of the research team doc. Tomáš Matuška from the University Center for Energy-Efficient Buildings of the Czech Technical University, who summarized the results of the development and test operation of the first prototype in the desert near the city of Sweihan in the United Arab Emirates: "Half-year testing of the system confirmed its ability to produce water in different parts of the year. We gained a lot of practical experience from the operation for the final optimization of the developed device."
Jiří František Potužník, the general commissioner of the Czech Republic's participation in the World Expo EXPO, spoke from Dubai via telebridge, who presented the progress achieved in the construction of the Czech national pavilion and presented the rough construction. "The pavilion is not just a building symbolizing the original SAWER technology with its original architecture - the building is functionally connected to the system and uses it both indoors, where it cools the air, and outdoors, where it waters the garden. All together is a demonstration of the potential of our creators and scientists - a message for the whole world."
The SAWER system will be technically integrated and visualized in Dubai as part of the Czech exposition, the central theme of which is the extraction of water from the air and its use for the cultivation of the dry desert. The device will deliver an average of 500 liters per day intended for subsurface irrigation of the garden in the area of the Czech National Pavilion.
