The CTU University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings conducted in its laboratories a series of indoor environment quality tests in micro-offices produced by the Czech company SilentLab, which was one of the first in the world to market this specific product. The results of the analysis resulted in several suggestions for improving air quality and thermal comfort.
Modular micro-offices are cells that isolate all surrounding sounds, have their own ventilation, lighting and electrical outlets. They can be easily disassembled and moved when moving. They are mainly used in large open space offices, where they provide a separate space for working in a quiet environment, or for various meetings. Company SilentLab is it labeled MICROOFFICE comes in several different versions. Although they managed to successfully gain a foothold in world markets and win international design awards, their manufacturers are still trying to improve their quality.
Part of this effort were the tests of the MICROOFFICE pair in PRIME versions and QUADRIO. The tests performed in Laboratoři vnitřního prostředí CTU UCEEB first consisted
of orientational visualization of air flow and measurement of carbon dioxide concentration distribution. This was followed
by analyzes of the thermal comfort of the seated person and the air flow in the micro-office environment. Based on them, we
developed recommendations for modifying the supply air distribution elements, which should completely exclude any adverse
conditions.
