The main goal of the project is basic research into the usability of recycled sand as a substitute for natural sand in concrete. Basic research will be conducted on the basis of experimental verification of the properties of recycled sand depending on the method of demolition and recycling in both locations and subsequent verification of the properties of concrete, where natural sand will be replaced by recycled sand from construction and demolition waste.

The sub-goals of the project are the mapping of the demolition and recycling process in both locations and the verification of the quality and properties of recycled sand, or the fine fraction of recycled aggregate from construction and demolition waste. Furthermore, verification of the possibilities of its use as a substitute for natural sand in concrete. Finally, these solutions will be compared in terms of environmental impact.

The motivation for this project is the maximization of the use of recycled raw materials in the construction industry, the sharing of knowledge in this area in completely different locations and the overall reduction of the impacts of urbanization on the environment in both locations.

The activity was created as part of the LTAIN19205 project, supported by the program Inter Excellence.
