Michal Sněhota graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague in 1999, majoring in Water Construction and Water Management, where he received his doctorate in 2003 with work focused on magnetic resonance imaging of soil water. In 2003–2004, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Hawaii at Manoa devoted to experimental research on the movement of pesticides and hormones in the soil. Since 2004, he has been employed at the Department of Hydromelioration and Landscape Engineering as an assistant professor, since 2011 he has been working as an associate professor at the same workplace, and since 2013 he has been working at the University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings of the Czech Technical University. He heads the Hydrometeorology and Hydropedology Laboratory at UCEEBu. It is dedicated to basic and applied research on man-made soil systems that will lead to the design of better ways to green buildings and cities.
