Cities that want to fulfill the concept of an intelligent city - Smart City - currently have minimal or no tools to assess how far they are in this direction. For this reason, a methodology for assessing the sustainability of smart cities is being created as part of a partially research project. The methodology will make it possible to evaluate both sustainability and innovativeness and technological development of the city or municipality. An important aspect is taking into account the impact on local residents, so that technological development does not have a negative impact on their quality of life. Of course, there will also be an evaluation of the quality of life in buildings with an emphasis on the area of subjective well-being.

The methodology will be tested in three municipalities of different sizes – Prague 3, Kladno and Pacov. The content of the methodology will be a description of the basic principles of the Smart City concept, including the determination of goals and an explanation of their creation, and above all an evaluation set of indicators - indicators - for a municipality or city. It will be possible to evaluate the city as a whole and its individual projects. The methodology will be publicly available to municipalities at the end of 2018.
