To develop a new generation of a mechanical grate for biomass combustion in an ORC micro CHP plant with high temperature resistant coatings which prevent corrosion and abrasion of the grate bars in the combustion chamber. To perform long term experiments in a prototype micro CHP ORC plant combusting wood chips and also in laboratory ovens simulating the temperatures and the atmosphere in the combustion chamber and comparing the results. To develop a grate technology which could withstand extreme conditions in the combustion chamber and also allows for reliable long term operation of the crank mechanism of the grate. To reduce the difficulty of the production of the grate thanks to non-conventional machining of coated steel grate bars. To reduce weight, costs, plays and assembling issues.
