Ing. Jan Špale

Jan Špale is the head of INTENS (Industrial Thermal Energy Systems) research team, which focuses on industrial thermal energy systems with an emphasis on the development of industrial heat pumps and waste heat recovery in industry. He graduated in Power Engineering and Process Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, CTU, where his PhD thesis focused on the development of turbomachines for decentralized energy systems based on the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC).

Jan is an alumnus of the prestigious Fulbright-Masaryk scholarship, which allowed him to spend a year at Purdue University in the USA, where he focused on high temperature heat pump development and industrial energy. Furthermore, he has gained extensive experience in research and development of mechanical components of thermal energy systems during a number of international internships, for example at Politecnico di Milano, KU Leuven in Belgium and OTH Amberg-Weiden in Germany.
