The biodynamic circadian LED floor lamp Sunflow, developed by the Czech company Spectrasol in collaboration with experts from the CTU UCEEB and the National Institute of Mental Health, has succeeded in the global competition LIT Lighting Design Awards 2023. Their joint project was supported by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic under the TREND Programme.

More than 800 projects from 58 countries were submitted to the current season of the international LIT Lighting Design Awards competition, which were evaluated by a jury of 45 experts, architects, interior designers, academics, media representatives and other leaders in the lighting industry. In a strong competition, the winner in the category of table and floor lamps was the Czech Sunflow lamp, which was jointly developed by a team of lighting specialists from the CTU UCEEB under the leadership of Lenka Maierová.

Sunflow offers its users three lighting modes that are in line with the 24-hour natural cycle and thus benefit the human circadian system. These are provided by an integrated LED module that has been patented for its unique, balanced and pro-cognitive properties. The daytime mode replicates natural sunlight. In the evening, the lamp softens the illumination of the room with a warm light and resembles a sunset, which relax the body. The night mode is suitable during preparation for sleep. The lamp can be easily controlled with a button and the desired parameters can be set in the app.

Its designers also had sustainability in mind, so the lamp is made in the EU from recyclable materials such as aluminium and steel. The jury was also impressed by the modern design, which makes Sunflow the perfect addition to any contemporary interior.
