The Participatory Planning and Design (PPD) team at CTU UCEEB helped the company Chytrý dům validate the market potential
of a timber apartment building concept. The objective of the collaboration was to determine how developers, municipalities
and other key market stakeholders respond to this new type of construction.
The PPD team prepared and moderated a series of expert workshops involving representatives of development companies, municipalities
and public institutions. The discussions focused not only on the technical parameters of timber buildings, but above all on
the real barriers to their wider adoption, including project economics, investor expectations, the needs of municipalities
and the trust of future users.
The results showed that the main barrier to innovation is often not the technology itself, but the ability to communicate,
prepare and manage a project effectively. At the same time, they confirmed that interest in sustainable and prefabricated
forms of construction is growing, particularly in the area of affordable and rental housing.
In situations like these, the PPD team helps clients better understand stakeholders, identify risks and verify whether the
proposed solution meets market needs before it is introduced into practice.
