The influence of structural changes on the moisture and temperature regime of anthropogenic soil systems

The project is focused on the study of structural changes of anthropogenic soil systems in connection with ongoing temperature and humidity processes. The effects of the mentioned processes on the reliability and efficiency of green roofs and turf tiles are investigated, i.e. on the design of energy-efficient buildings.

Hydrometeorological and hydropedological continuous observations of stations located on extensive green roofs and turf tiles will provide detailed information on the moisture and thermal regime of these systems. The internal structure of the soil matrix of the studied systems will be imaged and characterized using X-ray computed tomography of intact samples. Tomographic images will show changes in soil heterogeneity and structure over time caused by climatic influences and the development of vegetation cover.
