Research team

We are a multidisciplinary team connecting experienced developers and technical scientists with doctors and social scientists.

We develop modern technologies for telemedicine, eHealth and assisted living in a real apartment environment. This living lab brings together scientists, doctors, manufacturers and users of assistive technologies and other eHealth tools. We connect experts in the field of HW and SW development, telemedicine and home care. We own a barrier-free studio in which it is possible to test the developed technologies in practical life. The basis of the equipment is an intelligent electrical installation allowing full interaction with the apartment.

We help develop and implement new procedures and technologies. Our job is to interpret from "engineering" to "humanity", propose optimal solutions and interpret back. We help design solutions in the field of telemedicine, IoT, ICT in the health and social field, technologies or services with an emphasis on the involvement of target groups. We always aim for user-friendly, innovative and sustainable solutions with respect to the given context. We draw from the background of an interdisciplinary workplace and are thus able to handle even complex projects. Our other domain is product or service testing in a laboratory and real environment with the involvement of the target group with subsequent evaluation.

Main activities of the team

  • We develop HW and SW tools of personalized telemedicine.
  • We test and evaluate the usability of not only medical devices in the home environment (Usability lab).
  • We obtain values from test operation in a real apartment environment (Livinig lab).
  • We support cooperation between scientists, doctors, the commercial sphere and the users of assistive technologies and other eHealth tools themselves in order to educate and create new topics of interdisciplinary cooperation.
  • We cooperate with industrial partners on the development of new technologies and with foreign partners on the implementation of research not only within the framework of H2020 grant calls.
  • We cooperate with companies, municipalities and public contractors in three areas:
    • people and innovation,
    • people and special buildings,
    • people and technology.

Equipment

The system enables full integration of peripherals and subordinates or superiors of the system. It has analog and digital inputs and outputs and a standardized API. It allows controlling the apartment and testing various elements of intelligent control and assistive technologies.

Voice interaction with the apartment. The application in the mobile phone or watch is waiting for the trigger word "Zoro". The speech analysis uses an English off-line speech-to-text database (Czech does not yet exist), mainly for security reasons (impossible eavesdropping when the sound is not transmitted from the mobile). When the trigger word "Zoro" is recognized, the cell phone will beep and commands can be entered. Commands are already sent to the Google server for conversion to text. Subsequently, the minicomputer analyzes the command and instructs the apartment control unit (PLC) to execute.
